WHAT'S THE SOLUTION?

Demolition Industry Can Avoid 2023 Labor Shortage

There is one primary concern that is looming over the demolition industry that has business owners concerned. Labor shortages. According to the Associated General Contractors of America’s 2023 Construction Outlook National Survey, supply chain issues, rising costs, & labor shortages are the top concerns they are facing in 2023. All three problems, when combined, have resulted in project delays. Project delays lead to a decrease in revenue, & a decrease in revenue leads to a crisis in your business.

In times like these, business owners look for solutions to combat the issue head on, & rightly so. Decreases in revenue aren’t minor inconveniences, they can slowly & even quickly put an end to your business if a solution isn’t found. The solution in labor shortages is often to turn towards making the positions you are hiring for more appealing. A step that many have taken, according to the survey, is offering higher pay rates for the positions they seek to fill.

While we aren’t going to suggest this is a bad solution, there is another option the demolition industry can take that not only benefits their business in the short term but expands their businesses success over the long term.

BATTERY-POWERED EQUIPMENT SOLVES LABOR SHORTAGE

“How is buying more machines supposed to help me?” Simple. One machine does the work of 3-5 laborers. With a labor shortage going on, I think the math speaks for itself. You have all the labor you need with the right machines, meaning while others are struggling to bring in labor, you are able to accept contracts ahead of them, complete the jobs faster, & take on more.
When labor shortages are no longer an issue, you now have equipment that amplifies the work that your increased workforce can accomplish. In every way, introducing battery powered equipment is a massive benefit, but don’t take it from us. Take it from someone who added our 100ECO Battery-Powered Skid-Steer to their demolition arsenal.

IS IT SAFE TO USE SKID-STEERS INDOORS?

When they are 100% battery powered, they are perfectly safe! Even our mini excavator can safely operate indoors to greatly increase productivity, all while not exposing laborers to harmful toxins. Battery-powered means no emissions, which is highly important when doing interior demolition jobs. If you don’t use battery-powered equipment for those jobs sites, you either need to waste time preparing ventilation systems to keep your laborers safe, or you’re simply going to need a lot of manpower, which as discussed isn’t exactly in large supply right now. Battery-powered equipment is the way to go, & Cratos Equipment is leading the charge in providing said equipment.

HOW MUCH MAINTENANCE DOES BATTERY-POWERED EQUIPMENT NEED?

Next to no maintenance is needed with battery-powered equipment. Simply charge your machine &  get to work! We can’t say no maintenance will ever be needed; eventually you’re going to need to replace a part here & there. However, in comparison to gas- or diesel-powered  machines, our machines are a cost/ time saver in every way!

The labor shortage problem isn’t going away anytime soon. Take the smart approach & use the solution that eliminates the problem for your business with battery-powered equipment from Cratos.
